I thought I would start off this 7×7 challenge with something that will really make you think. I want to challenge you to not only be a better person but to make the world a better place.
So let’s talk nail polish.
Ahem.
Essie Good as Gold: Perfect for when I am pretending to be fashionable, classy and chic. You know, all of those things I AM NOT. But, you slather this on your nails, and suddenly you start touching things more lightly and pointing at things differently. Am I the only one who feels like her fingers feel different with a good polish on?
Sinful Colors Glow in the Dark: This is the polish Mike hates the most because whenever I wear it, I make him look at my nails under the covers until he doesn’t care anymore which is instantly. It’s the small things in life that make it enjoyable.
Dior Blue Label: When I was hunting for a navy nail polish a few years back, I couldn’t find a good one anywhere. Now Essie has the best color ever (Under the Twilight), but I still have this crazy expensive bottle of Dior which means I cannot justify another navy polish in my apparently dear collections (otherwise, why would I torture you with this?).
OPI Lincoln Park After Dark: I’m fairly certain everyone has heard of LPAD. It’s my go-to winter color, and I have only one issue with it: it shows chips so easily. Do you have any idea how easily dark polish chips when you spend your whole day changing diapers and giving baths and peeling stickers off the furniture? I need to find a magic top coat.
Sally Hansen Cafe au Lait: This might be the third time I have blogged about this polish. I wear it all Summer/Spring. Yada yada. Doesn’t show chips as easily. Yada Yada. Love it.
I hope your suspicions about the shallowness of my mind have been confirmed. In my defense, it’s Monday. I wasn’t prepared for this.
.

I am glad someone else touches things lightly when their nails are painted. I sort of do a lady like flutter with my nails when they are painted.
ha! Well, I’m glad it’s not just me! Why do my hands feel different with polish? I have no idea; they just do, right??
Fun post! Now I want to paint my nails.
I have (very) recently started doing my nails and my daughters keep complimenting me and suggesting new colors. At 4 and 8… It cracks me up! Oh, and I love the seche vita top coat. It works!
My favorite color is a grey that came in the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection a few years ago. I’m going to cry when it’s out. And I found this amazing nail polish on clearance at Walgreens that is this beautiful pinkish purple pastel and it’s scented (lavender) but alas, the brand cannot be found on the internet so I think they went out of business of something? But it lasts FOREVER and is so amazing and I would buy every color they sold if they existed. Thank you for letting me get out these highly academic thoughts today.
Oh, and I love navy blue (my favorite color/wedding color) so I think I’m going to be asking for Essie Under the Twilight for my birthday. No one will buy me nail polish as a present, but it shall still go on the list.
I can look slobbish all over but if my nails are done then I feel positively classy.
If only that was the reality of the beast.
“make him look at my nails under the covers until he doesn’t care anymore which is instantly” LOL.
Also, I need to get some of that Cafe au Lait stuff…I was just thinking about nail polish earlier; maybe I will make a goal to get the dishes done early tomorrow (ha.) and then PAINT ALL THE NAILS! :)
I just started painting my nails regularly. I have a beautiful grey that Ryan calls my “inner emo” and then a bright ruby red. The red realllllly taught me the importance of a base coat! And also, yes – I feel like such a lady with my nails painted. I stop and look at them alllll the time.
Do you keep them shiny, or matte? I bought a matte top coat from wet’n’wild a few days ago. I like it mostly but not sure if I’d like my nails to always be matte.
