Gearing Up for the Move

February 10, 2012 By Jenna 10 Comments

Well. The time has come. We are officially moving to Minnesota starting Monday. This is the schedule Mike’s company has given us:

Pack Date(s) 13 Feb 2012-13 Feb 2012
Load Date (s) 14 Feb 2012-14 Feb 2012
Estimated Delivery Spread 16 Feb 2012-20 Feb 2012

Here’s hoping our stuff arrives when we do! We are planning on taking two days to drive out to MN for our sake, and for Ellen’s. 12 hours in the car is a long ride for a baby, so it will be easier to break it up.
We haven’t had to do much to prepare ourselves. We have a moving company doing almost all of the work. Here is what WE have been doing though:
1. Buying disposable diapers so we don’t have to launder cloth diapers on the road
2. Eating bizarre meals in my attempt to clean out the fridge and freezer before we go
3. Visiting all of our doctors for check-ups, cleanings and prescriptions so we don’t have to find replacement doctors as soon as we get there
4. Packing a small amount of clothes and toilet paper for the days will will be without our belongings
5. Researching things to do and groups to join once we are settled

Honestly, even though we are moving in just a couple of days, it hasn’t quite sunk in for me. Maybe it’s because I’m such a creature of habit that I can’t imagine anything else. Who knows?

In order to make the move easier for us, do you have any advice for me? Let me know in the comment section below!

You’re moving????? Oh no!!! Even though we dont see each other often, I will really miss you!! Enjoy your new adventure as a family!

On a side note, hows your mom handling this? I’m sure she’s going to miss you all so much! If she gets bored, she can always come entertain my brood for a few hours!!!

Good Luck and I’ll be praying for you!!!

Jenna I had no idea that you are leaving so soon! I honestly didn’t have a clue. Have a safe trip, hope the drive is enjoyable, maybe Ellen will sleep during most of the trip. Keep us posted and send lots of pictures.
Love you guys, will miss you and will look forward for your return to Michigan.
    Hugs and kisses,
    Aunt Linda and Uncle John

First, pack Advil in with your clothes, you’re gonna need it. Movingis super stressful in the same town, let alone out of state. Thinkabout how you want things in your kitchen cabinets before you startunpacking. I just shoved everything in and ended up redoing the wholething later. Very annoying. Breathe. Again, it’s stressful, tempersget short, which makes things even harder. Call me if you need to :)Good Luck!!!!

:( Twin I know we don’t see each other often but this is still sad news. But on a happy note (lol see what I did there?) you, Mike, and Ellen will have a whole new adventure ahead of you. “All you need is love” and you are surrounded for sure! Good luck and when you are back in MI we will have to make sure to see each other.

We’re going to miss you too! We we hoping we could see you before you left, but I know everyone is so busy. If all goes well, we will be back in town quite a bit next year, and then moving back for good in 2013 :) And, don’t worry, I plan on emailing and facebooking and texting and words with friendsing you all the time!

Thanks, Jen! I have the pain meds packed! Luckily, we have a moving company, so hopefully that will ease a bit of stress. But, if I start to go insane, you’re getting a phone call!
