7QT: the back of the pantry stuff

June 5, 2015 By Jenna 3 Comments

chatter

I mentioned earlier this week that I have 20/20 vision but Mike doesn’t think so. I suppose there is no way to ever tell who is right. Nope. No way.

Unless I make an appointment at the eye doctor.

BUT, back me up on this: I really shouldn’t because I am only 3ish months postpartum. My eyes are still doing crazy ish, right? So, I should wait to get them checked.

Right?

7QT: Did you dance as much as I did?

May 29, 2015 By Jenna 3 Comments

chatter

This week was all about family. My cousin got married and every cousin but one (who got sick. boo.) was there. And then a BBQ with them the next day. And my bro came in from Cali. And it was just lots of family and food and dancing and booze and fun. Another wedding in June with that gaggle.

What were your Memorial Day activities? Did you dance as much as I did?

I’m loving this working on Mondays thing. I am still a lot behind where I wish I could be right now, but I think in a few weeks I will have this on auto. And by a few weeks I mean when the kids are old and grown. But.

Anyway, tell me what you are proud of this week. I want to know why I should love you even more. xo

7QT: one day a week to work on this little passion project

May 15, 2015 By Jenna 4 Comments

chatter

I waffle all the time about if I want to start taking blogging more seriously. Really it’s me wondering if blogging is taking away from being with my kids.

I stay at home with them, so they see me an awful lot. And, my new goal is to use the time my mom is here on Mondays to lock myself in my room and get all of my blogging work done for the week.

So, I mean, there are plenty of moms who work out of the home (and in the home) each day, and they are able to make it work with families. I don’t see why picking one day a week to work on this little passion project is any different.

Am I convincing you or me? Or does convincing even need to be done? I don’t know. What are your thoughts on this?

7QT: It’s called, uh, hair wash.

April 10, 2015 By Jenna 5 Comments

chatter

Do you have anywhere you like to look/anyone you like to talk to when you have deep spiritual questions. I feel like my questions are adding up more quickly than answers these days. And, while I think that can be a good thing and I don’t think I will ever have all the answers, I still find myself with nagging questions that I need an answer to.

What is your protocol for these types of things? What do you like to do when you feel like your faith is shaky and you need a jolt?

7QT: Have mercy on us and on the whole world

April 3, 2015 By Jenna Leave a Comment

chatter

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls
and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
O Fountain of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy,
envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water,
which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus
as a fountain of mercy for us,
I trust in You.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One,
Have mercy on us and on the whole world. (3 times)

JESUS, King of mercy, I trust in You!

7QT: who wants someone to see them in that fine moment?

March 20, 2015 By Jenna 6 Comments

chatter

This week has been a rough one in the sleep department. Not only is Theo sleeping like a baby (in the true sense of the word…), the other kids are sleeping like babies as well. Night terrors, nightmares, requests for snacks and drinks, diaper blowouts, you name it. Everyone has a reason to be awake these nights.

So, you can imagine the level of exhaustion I am feeling. I know I’m not alone. So, I was having one of those tired days yesterday – the kind of tired where you don’t trust yourself to even drive a car.

I had Ellen ready for a friend of mine and her mom to pick her up and take her to the library for story time. Because I was so tired, I told the kids we were going to watch TV until it was time for Ellen to go. They did, and I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, my friend’s mom was standing over me making sure I was ok while I heard Theo hangry-screaming in the background.

Honestly, who wants someone to see them in that fine moment? Falling asleep while you’re supposed to be mothering, while your baby is crying, when you’re expecting company.

And, you’re wondering how they got in the house? Don’t worry. My 3-year-old took it upon herself to answer the door. Something we have talked about at length as being a huge no-no.

So, I’m thinking yesterday taught me humility. It also taught me that I need to prioritize sleep somehow. And Ellen needs another lecture (and a new lock) in the safety department.

So many people I told this story to were ready with a similar tale. So, thank you to all of you for making me feel normal. And thank you to my friends for taking Ellen out for the day. She clearly needs time away from this tired mama.
