If you’ve had a baby, you’ve probably been given your share of receiving blankets, cute onesies, stuffed animals and personalized knick knacks. And, while I am not one to ever complain about a person’s generosity and thoughtfulness, those suckers get played out.
And, after birthing a child, aren’t you a little bit, “What do I get??” Besides hemorrhoids and post-natal hair loss, not much.
So because everyone will be buying the new bundle a gift or two, stand out from the crowd and make the momma feel special with my Better Gift Guide for New Moms. Trust me, she will love this.
-1-
Nude Quick-Dry Nail Polish: Nothing makes me feel more put together than having my nails done. Nothing makes me feel grungier than chipped polish. So, give a new mom a nice, nude polish that dries fast, looks classy, and doesn’t show chips as easily. This is Sally Hansen Bare It All.
-2-
Knot Twisted Headband: Doing my hair means a top knot, and I’m totally cool with that. But, what if I want to fancy it up just a tad? Maybe I want to cover up some of that grease…because it’s not going anywhere. I love my Knot Twisted headbands for just those reasons. So. Freaking. Comfy.
-3-
Simple Pedometer: Make sure you let the new mom know that she’s beautiful and not fat. But, what mom doesn’t want an easy way to burn a few calories and increase energy after being pregnant? I clip one of these to my pants and just try to get 10,000 steps somehow. It’s an easy, measurable goal that doesn’t require alone time, a gym membership or Jillian.
-4-
Wild Orange Oil: I had to add something citrus in here, because it is so darn good for your mood and energy levels. Lotsa moms deal with PPD and other variants of that demon (or even just baby blues), so give a new mom a boost with some sweet orange smells.
-5-
Graduated Water Bottle: Water makes ya skin nice. It makes ya lose weight. It keeps ya energy up. It makes ya feel better. I love the numbers on the side of this one because I know if I drink two, I have met my water intake for the day. Again, measurable goals work for this mama. Drink up.
-6-
BONUS FAVORITE – Netflix Subscription: She’s going to be spending time on the couch. Let’s face it. Let her face it with a binge sesh of Gilmore Girls, Arrested Development, Sherlock, Portlandia, Parks and Recreation, Friends, ooh and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt...easily my new favorite show. I’m getting away with myself. Stop me.
Some links may be affiliate. Disclosure: I have received free Netflix streaming and a streaming device as part of my membership on the Netflix Stream Team. All opinions expressed within this post are my own.

My absolute favorite thing to send to a new mom is a mani/pedi kit. This one from Amazon is really nice:

Love the Netflix idea! I’m a big meal person. Dinner was always a huge help. And if they’re a first time mom, I like to give an extra set of sheets. Because babies have a way of spitting up, peeing, pooping and whatever elsing all over the bed.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I like sending gift cards for food! New moms love not having to cook dinner, right?
Nursing essentials like breast pads and lanolin cream…lifesavers!
I love taking a meal and a book for them to read to their baby.
I love bringing or sending food to new moms! Probably because that’s what I would rather get. And it doesn’t have to be meals, necessarily…I’m not the best cook but I like to bake so I tend to send baked goods (muffins, bread, etc.). I had the brilliant idea today, though, to send some snacks to a friend via Amazon Prime (she just had her 3rd baby like you!). Gotta love being able to send some goodies without leaving my house :)
I like to bring a nice meal or sweets =)
I have two friends who would love these! And when I surprise them with it (if I win), I get to snuggle with their cute babies. Everyone wins!
#teacherfail for not reading the instructions carefully. I like to take books to read to the baby. Yeah, that’s a gift for the baby, but Angel in the Waters is good for all ages, right?
Jenna~ First of all…what awesome ideas! LOVE!
Secondly! I’m sorry if I messed up your linky pictures! I tried to “upload” a pic from my computer bc the choices of pics the linky tools gave me were not related to my post…oops…I think I did something I shouldn’t have….the url is appearing not the pic? Sorry about that! If it’s ugly and you want me to ad it in again with just an unrelated pic,,just delete and LMK. I’ll come back.
Thank you for hosting. Will look fwd to visiting a few others” faves!

God bless
Snacks, ready to go lunches, nursing gear, my favorite stain remover, gift cards for entertainment and/or food…
Um, yes. Why does no one think that the person who just did 9 hard months of growing a baby then umpteen hours of labor and delivery not deserve a present?! If there’s any cause for a present it is that, my friends. I’ve always wanted alcohol, chocolate, something cozy -think pyjama pants, a cozy throw, cute large t-shirt, or a beautiful candle or something frivolous that makes me feel like I deserve something special…and I’m not bitter that I’ve never really received any of these after having a baby…
A warm meal. I’ve never noticed it go unappreciated. And it sure was my favorite thing to receive. :)
Homemade meals always seem to be helpful to new mamas!
Always dinner… Along with an easy, tasty breakfast addition like a box of quick bake muffins. Cuz no new mama has time for elaborate breakfasts!
Food! At the end of the day, it’s what’s been most helpful to me.
I like to bring a new mom candy.
A freezer-friendly meal, plus banana bread!
I think you pretty much nailed it. I usually bring a meal, but I wait until about a month after baby is born since that’s usually when all the attention and fuss has petered out and moms and aunts aren’t over 24/7 to help any more.
Gift cards for dinner!
I like to give Burt’s Bees baby products, especially the soap.
I like bringing a meal and fresh flowers.
Someone got me a super adorable (and very large) sweatshirt/top – it was in a size that I wouldn’t have wanted to buy (convinced that I wouldn’t need it for long enough to justify the cost) but it was SO nice to have something new and pretty to put on post birth!
I love bringing a homecooked meal (in disposable containers, of course!).
I think the most thoughtful gift when I was a new mom was nursing tops, it was something I didn’t think I needed and my friend combed the Target clearance racks to get me a few things. So now I always ask friends if they need me to do the same!
I love giving new moms something that makes her feel pretty or cared for, like a printed nursing tank, chocolate…special lotion etc. :)
I like to bring a meal to families with a new baby. Everyone needs to eat and there isn’t a lot of extra energy to put into making meals with a new little one.
This bundle sounds amazing, especially for a first-time mom!
10 weeks with baby #6!
Prepared meals, with all the paper products, are my favorite gifts to bring!
