#5Faves: Using Essential Oils at the Gym

March 31, 2015 By Jenna 3 Comments

Looking to enhance your workout? Try using essential oils at the gym. Just don’t do what I did and try to wash your hair with a bottle of rosemary oil and then shatter it in the shower making the entire locker room smell like an herb garden. I didn’t mind it as much as the people who had to clean it up. Sorry.

I’ve mentioned before that I use Doterra, but feel free to sub in your brand of choice.

And, if you’re looking for a beginner’s guide to oils, check out this one.

Use your doTerra or Young Living oils to enhance your fitness and workout while you are at the gym running, doing an ab workout, zumba or anything else. I never considered the last tip until I experienced a desperate need for it!

Using Essential Oils at the Gym: My #5Faves Recs

Peppermint: Having a hard time getting up the energy to be up in the gym working on your fitness to make your body stay vicious? Apply peppermint to the bottoms of your feet or fill a glass spray bottle with a few drop of oil plus distilled water and mist yourself with it. Instant pick-me-up.

Deep Blue: This blend (and its lotion-like version) reminds me of Icy Hot. It’s clutch for soothing those achy muscles after you werk it. I’ve also heard lemongrass is good for this, but I can’t testify.

Slim and Sassy: I’m a pretty big believer in diet and exercise being the key to weight loss, and I don’t put much stock into weight loss supplements. But, I do know a lot of peeps who swear by this, so take that information and do with it what you will.

Breathe: This blend promotes easier breathing – something you should do while working out. It’s also a calming blend for many people, so it is perfect to use at night if you need help breathing then too.

OnGuard: I mentioned the other day that some lady was hacking a lung next to me at the gym during flu season. I also take my kids to the daycare there. You bet that we OnGuard before or after our trips to avoid nastiness.

Do you have any favorite ways for using essential oils at the gym? Lay them on me, friends.
