The Gilmore Girls Netflix Workout

May 20, 2015 By Jenna 13 Comments

Disclosure: I have received free Netflix streaming and a streaming device as part of my membership on the Netflix Stream Team.  All opinions expressed within this post are my own.

I get it. The kids are napping and you want to watch Lorelai and Rory allude to pop culture gems on Netflix while you binge eat puppy chow. Like I said, I get it.

But you’re also like, “Meh. Maybe I should work out while the kids are quiet.”

My friends, what if you could do BOTH (both both both echo echo echo)?!? Minus the puppy chow because…compromises.

Your Netflix guide to a Gilmore Girls workout routine. Work on your fitness with Lorelai and Rory even though they never really would. Add this to your workouts at home. I’m thankful for #3! | workout routines | exercise routines | exercise challenge | netflix hacks

While the Gilmore girls may look down upon your choice to sweat, I’m here to cheer you on! Give it a try! And, uh, let me know how it goes. I’ll be over here with the puppy chow.

The Gilmore Girls Netflix Workout

Stretch then…

  1. Run in place for the opening credits
  2. 20 lunges in episodes where Rory dates Dean, 24 for Jess and 28 for Logan
  3. 50 crunches when an event is happening in Stars Hallow
  4. Pop Culture Reference: drink water
  5. 10 pushups when anyone references coffee
  6.  Wall sit for as long as you can whenever Paris is sarcastic
  7.  3 burpees when Emily talks about the DNR
  8.  10 squats when Rory reads a book
  9.  15 jumping jacks when you hear the “la la la” music
  10.  Plank for as long as you can when either Girlmore girl goes to Luke’s

…then stretch.

fine print: Always talk to your doc before beginning an exercise routine. Stop if you feel funny. Not if you look funny. Everyone looks funny while they workout. I mean light headed or something like that. Then you can stop. Oh, also, drink water.

I had so much fun thinking of common GG plot pieces. What other ones can you think of? Also, in the combox, are you Team Dean, Team Jess or Team Logan? Team Logan here.

Okay, I don’t know why I never saw this show when it was first on but I just started watching it last month. I am addicted to it, dang it! I’m usually doing laundry or cooking but I may have to try the GG workout. I just started season 3 this week so there are characters I haven’t met yet. ;-)

According to NY Daily News the average American spends about 5 hour per day watching TV. Imagine if that time was spent exercising! For one…. you’d have to expand the workout above. Or maybe you should develop workouts for different shows.

Ok, I just finished season 3. IS that seriously how it ends with Jess? He calls Rory but never actually speaks to her? Is that the last we see of him? So unsatisfying.

I’m pretty sure if you drink water everytime there is a pop culture reference you would drown. :)

Very great routine, well done Jenna! Just want to add that stretching is as important as workout itself, I suggest a minimum 10 minutes stretching before doing such exercises.

I think you meant D.A.R. (Daughter’s of the American Revolution) not D.N.R. (a directive meaning “do not resuscitate”)
