A few weeks back, Angela of MomSpot.com won the Amazing Group Giveaway from At Home Take 2. Part of her awesome prize: a feature here on Call Her Happy. What’s cool is that Angela doesn’t just have a blog; she has a national site dedicated to connecting and supporting moms all over the place. Take a look:
1. First, tell me about you? Who are you outside of mom-spot.com?
I am a professional sports photograher and founder of a non-profit organization that benefits children in the Dayton area. I’m also a single mom to an absolutely amazing 12-year-old daughter who loves to play the flute, play volleyball and ride horses. There’s no moss growing under our feet as we are always on some adventure.
2. Tell me about your site. What do you want readers, moms and bloggers to know about what you do?
Mom-Spot.com is a wonderful resource for moms. The cart really came before the horse for us as the Dayton site took off right out of the starting gate and three months earlier than anticipated, so the national site took a backseat. Dayton is our first regional site, with the hopes of adding Cincinnati and Columbus soon as well as six other cities. We cover over 90 topic areas and want to be the go-to regional resource for moms. As for the national site, it’s a fun mix of alter-egos of mom bloggers as well as my blog and things we are passionate about.
3. What blogs are on your “must-read” list each day?
I have to admit, I don’t have a must-read list each and every day; it’s too long. I get to my favorites 3-4 times a week and catch up at that time. Some of my absolute favorites are: A bird and a bean (abirdandabean.com), adventure mom (adventuremomblog.com), Teachable Mommy (teachablemommy.com), Sassy Pants Momma (sassypantsmomma.com) and Mom on the Run x2 (momontherunx2.com)
4. Share a favorite recipe
There are so many, but this is my go to cookie recipe. I found it on Pinterest and am addicted. I’ve tried it with m&m’s, a combo, chocolate chips…the possibilities are endless.
5. What does the future look like for mom-spot.com?
We are only two months old and we are catching on like wildfire – it’s amazing. We are talking about a parallel site for dads and expanding into at least eight cities next year. The national site is growing as we are up to 12 bloggers there – with them starting over the next several months. We are working with a lot of national brands and doing marketing research with our advisory panel. The possibilities are endless. What does the future look like? The “future is so bright, I’ve got to wear shades”!
