Ellen: Mom, what are you doin’?
Me: Making the bed.
Ellen: Can I help you?
Me: Yup. Can you make it nice and smooth on that side?
Ellen: Yes. I can absolutely do that.

Sam started on solids this week. We skipped the rice cereal and went with carrots. Little dude is in love. And, is it really weird I am sad that his newborn breastmilk poop is all gone now. My guy is growing up. Sniff…eww.

We had some nasty storms roll through the Midwest this week. I ain’t even gonna pretend it was as bad here as it was in other places, but we did lose power. That was it. You know what is weird though? I never realize how much electricity we use until we don’t have it. Well, you only miss the light when it’s burning low, they say. Or so I heard ten times a day on the radio.

I NEED to get a video of Ellen singing Roar. Homegirl breaks.it.down. during the bridge. I’m talking one foot stomping, hands waving, head thrown back lip syncing. Excellent.

We had the pleasure of reviewing a TogetherBox recently in return for a review. So, here it is.
TogetherBox is a monthly subscription box that sends families a kit filled with activities and games that all tie into a specific theme. Ours was bugs. So, picture this:
I get the kids bundled up to go on “uh uh-venchurrrre” with our bug box, “medicine glass” (magnifying glass), butterfly catcher, chalk, and other essentials. Then we head out to the backyard where we start the hunt for a bug. In November. I flipped some rocks and eventually found a very unlucky spider. Ellen had fun building a habitat (twig and blade of grass), and the spider cursed the day he was hatched. We let the poor guy go after careful observation, and headed inside to make our own bug. Ellen came up with all of the answers, and she named him “Loopy Bug Stinky Bug.”
Honestly, this box seems like a great thing for the homeschooling mom. I like that the entire box has a theme with plenty of activities to explore the topic. Get your own TogetherBox at 50% off with the code callherhappy. The first two readers to use the code will get a box for 50% off as well as one additional box for free!

Rosie told me I need to give instant coffee a go. So, I piled the kids into the van yesterday I made a trip to ye olde grocer to pick some up. After doing extensive research, of course. I read up on all of the brands that taste okay-ish, and memorized all of them because I was too lazy to write them down. I got to the store, they didn’t have any of them, so I got Maxwell House Instant Coffee. Wish me luck.

I’m always really sad when the breastmilk poop is gone too… It’s just so much easier to clean up, and sooooo much less foul!
Also yay instant coffee! I did a lot of research about brands too, and then folgers was on sale again and even though people say it tastes like dirt I decided I didn’t care and it’s TOTALLY fine because I add so much cream and sugar anyway! I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to tell the difference between good and bad coffee… It all tastes the same to me!
I got myself some of that Bliss Cinnamon creamer. That stuff is gooood. I have been putting it in my tea too :) What is your fave?
