I’d say this kid was going to be a veterinarian. She has been to so many zoos and animal shows in her life, it’s a mathematical certainty. This weekend, we took Ellen to a free animal show at the nature center behind our apartment. Here is what we did:
We started outside where there were little animals on display.
Ellen said, “Mom, can we get a hen?” And I said, “No. Go talk to your Aunt Liz.”
Then, we went inside for the show. If you’ve ever seen Jack Hannah on any talk show, that was basically the format. Handlers brought out the animals, showed them around and told us all kinds of cool facts about each one.
Ellen was actually pretty captivated. But, when she started to get wiggly, we took advantage of the short lines to see the other animals on display.
She loved the snakes and the turtles in their cages.
Outside the cage…not so much.
“Wait. You want me to touch that?”
When we went back outside, Ellen got to meet Cookie the pony. Her and Cookie became real good buds.
Then, we asked, “Ellen, how did you like the animal show?” She said…
A day well spent!
