My Bean Gal is five months old today. I was pretty sure I signed up for one of those models that doesn’t get older, so I don’t understand what is happening. At least she keeps getting cooler every single day.
Also, I fall in love with her more and more every single day. That part is actually scary to me. It continually amazes me how my capacity to love grows and grows and grows.
So, here is what Ellen has been up to at five months. I’m sorry about the blurry pictures this time around; I’m not quite sure what happened…
I walked downstairs at my parents’ house the other day to this scene. My parents were acting like such grandparents taking pictures of Ellen in this little winter wonderland.
Ellen also is getting really good at sucking her thumb. She has been doing this for a while, but here is a great picture. We are ok with this habit because we feel like it fosters the ability to self-sooth.
Ellen also had her first visit with Santa. She got all dolled up and we found a free Santa visit too! Bonus! All of you parents out there: Santa visits are so crazy expensive, am I right??? Ellen sat on Santa’s lap like a champ and asked for teeth and enough hair for pigtails.
We also saw Ellen’s cousins, Emma and Lucy a few times this month. These are Ellen’s best friends! I got to hold both of the babes at once, and I was in heaven. We visited with the girls for Family Olympics, and we went and saw a life-size gingerbread house!
Ellen also learned how to drive a car. She did ok at best. She ran a few stop signs and told us it was only because she couldn’t reach the pedals. Whatever, Ellen. I think you’re just reckless. (Before you call CPS, we were in a parking lot.)
You might think this is Ellen in a mirror. Nope. Here she is hanging with Emma again. Ellen prefers to stand. She has not mastered the art of sitting yet because every time we try to sit her down, she pops herself back up to standing. She has rolled over both ways though, and she thinks it’s hilarious when she does!
Ooh. Here we are on Daddy’s birthday. Daddy turned the big 2-4 this year. What a grown up! Mike’s birthday was the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year, so we partied hard all weekend. Ellen even had a great onesie that said, “Thankful for Daddy!” Aww.
Ellen learned all about Black Friday shopping. We went to Joann’s and bought craft supplies to hold us over until next year. While we were shopping, Mima decided Ellen needed a crown. So, there you go.
Ellen finally met her Uncle Alex this month! Uncle Alex is staying with us a few days and is getting all of his play time in. He has already spun her around until she puked and taught her the words to “Rapper’s Delight.” Such a good uncle.
Here is my kiddo making the cutest face I ever did see. She is just the happiest baby. She is smiling and laughing almost all day long. I wish I could say that I have some amazing parenting advice on how to raise a really happy, easy-going baby, but we just got lucky with this one!
Ellen wishes you a very Merry Christmas and wants to know what you have been up to this month. Tell us in the comment section below!
