Well, it’s October and that means everything pink. Pink pizza, pink yogurt, pink bats, pink ribbons, pink, pink, pink, pink, pink. All in support of finding a cure for breast cancer.
And, I’m sure you’re familiar with the Susan G. Komen scandal earlier this year; it’s too bad really, because I was looking forward to finally donating money this month. And what about the donations that our friends and family (who we love dearly) are asking for? What is a Catholic to do?
Let’s look at some great alternatives: The National Breast Cancer Foundation, The Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, The Breast Cancer Society.
All of these organizations have been researched and found to have no ties to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s #1 provider of abortions.
Let’s let October be about finding a cure and not about compromising our morals. Red State says it best, “Susan G. Komen for the Cure would like to do everything in their power to end breast cancer forever, an idea with which no one would disagree. However, a strong message should be sent that our greatest ideals don’t have to be realized through compromise. Life is precious, be it the beautiful, familiar faces of the women we love, or the new faces of the babies we’ve yet to meet.”
