I literally cannot have enough daily prayer type books. It’s a sickness. Slap the numbers 3, 6 and 5 on the front cover of anything, and I want it. Why do you think that is? No, seriously, I can’t figure it out.
Anyway, here are some of my favorites (read: nothing earth-shaking or even earth-gentle swaying this week). You’ll notice I didn’t include reviews or descriptions. These are quick takes, people. Click the link to Amazon if you want to know more.
Make sure you tell me what other ones I need to add to my collection. Believe me, you – I will buy it.

To be honest, I use the app for this on my iPhone. It’s a good one to read before I get out of bed.

I share your sickness/fondness for daily books, too! I don’t know why either but your question made me think. I think it has to do with being a planner versus being a go-with-the-flow type. For me, I need structure in my day and always have a running to-do list in my head – so my thinking is like: Hey, I need to start each day with a prayer…but how can I accomplish that in an organized fashion? What prayers should I pray? And the idea of randomly praying just feels weird. And then I worry that there is a better way to approach praying than hoe I am doing it, etc. So, I think the 365 books give me the order and structure I crave. Voila – open the book each day, pray, and Bam – I’ve efficiently accomplished that daily goal/task. So, yes I am bananas but in a nice, friendly, harmless, OCD, Type A kind of way ;)
A few more thoughts – I am reading Sarah Reinhard’s Pregnancy Companion & I love it!! I have been meaning to read The Power of a Praying Wife and I am wondering if you have read The Power of a Praying Parent yet?
I think you hit the nail on the head with your analysis. That is probably exactly why I love books like this too :) And, a big yes to the parent book. I love that one too! I also want to get Praying the Scriptures for Your Children.
I love Sarah Young and Stormie Omartian. I use many of their books in my daily quiet time. I really like how Sarah Young writes as if God is speaking to us. I can almost hear his voice. And I enjoy praying God’s word back to him with Stormie Omartian’s prayers. It really does make for a powerful prayer!
I agree! It’s so nice when someone has the words for me. The kids are so chatty that sometimes it is hard for me to concentrate and form my own thoughts. When it is written out, half the battle is already won!
I have #6 and the companion of power of a praying parent. dog eared. both copies. love Stormie!
#7 May have to download that app!
Blessings from one prayer companion book lover to another!
