I guess I could do a Whole 30 or something to increase my energy and overall wellness. Or I could see a dietician. I am all about trying to rid this pregnancy anxiety in any way possible. But, for now, popping pills of the supplement variety seems to have the same benefit? Read: Can you ever even really tell? But, I trudge on. Here are my favorites.
-1-
Nature Made Fish Oil
Lots of omega-3s for a healthy nerve system which this panic ridden lady is desperate for. You are supposed to take these three times a day, but I just do them once because I am cheap like that. Also, I adore this brand because they are so small compared to other fish oils. Not burp-less unfortunately (I think Target makes one like that), but the size is worth it.
-2-
Integrative Therapeutics Probiotic Pearls
Olivia recommended this to me for a healthy gut. Again, I love how tiny they are. I am going to give these a try next time though. They seem to have the same ingredients but for half the cost. We will see.
-3-
Target Prenatal
I used to take the pricey Rx prenatals with Ellen. Who knew you could just take up & up and get the same benefit? A lot of moms I know take these because they are cheap and they are tasteless. Also, it’s just one pill a day.

Nature Made Vitamin D
I swear Nature Made did not pay me to write this post. It’s just that they are readily available at pretty much any store, pretty good quality, and a good price. My OB asked me to go on a vitamin D supplement because my labs came back, like, rill low-like. Particularly good for those of you who, like me, live in a state where the sun hibernates for months at a time. It’s that happy vitamin.
-5-
Nature Made Vitamin B Complex
Another feel good blend. Vitamin B helps with anxiety issues, so I hope, like the others, that this is helping and not making really expensive urine.

Glad I’m not the only one who uses the up&up prenatal vitamins. I felt like maybe I was cheap-ing out but there is a greatly useful price difference.
I’ve been taking the Target prenatals for over 8 years now. That’s a lot of money saved! :)
Oh I am all about cheap and the one pill a day. I use the Costco prenatal vitamins. One year’s worth for $15? Yes please.
I need to start taking my supplements more… Grace at Camp Patton recommended the Blood Builder forever ago and it is MAGIC. PURE MAGIC. for this low iron girl right here. But it tastes like rabbit poop grass, so there’s that.
Articles like this one, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1390732/Adding-Lithium-drinking-water-lower-suicide-rates.html, have inspired me to start taking an otc lithium supplement. Lithium has proven effective against dementia and depression and is a naturally occurring element in soil and water. Areas that are rich in lithium have lower rates of suicide and Alzheimer’s. Also, up&up and Nature Made FTW! But neither brand carries lithium. I had to search online for that. Safe for nursing mamas too.
I take my vitamin D in a gummy. I don’t know whether it is the vitamin or the excuse to eat a gummy every day but it does make me happy!
You have totally inspired me to take my supplements – especially the Vitamin D – I don’t think I have seen any real sun since August.
Love this post! I take Nature Made Vitamin D as well (2,000 iu I think?). I get Rx prenatal vitamins, but its because our local pharmacy does free prenatals with a Rx so… free is good! I’ve been wanting to start taking some fish oil and I think we have the exact ones in the house already!
I think I need to take more supplements! I love the Nature Made prenatals – they do not upset my stomach!
My vitamin D has been really low. I forget to take pills but I don’t forget my smoothie which I try to make and drink without a child noticing–unsuccessful so far. Anyway, I bought some liquid vitamin d and add it to my daily smoothie (and liquid vit B12 complex) and I almost doubled my vit d levels in a year.
Sorry for the bad news, but did you know more than 95% of all the vitamin supplements sold today at stores fall into the synthetic category. There’s a reason why they’re so cheap. I have been doing a lot of research lately for my health issues and here’s some info on vitamins:

I’ve gotten pretty picky about my supplements because of this. Cheap really isn’t worth it. Really good vitamins (which are more readily absorbed by the body and don’t just go down the toilet) are not available in the grocery stores aisles or Costco or Target. I’ve found a few companies that I really like and are actually not that pricey. My favorite is beeyoutiful.com – a family run business that also prints a great catalog with educational articles. Their SuperMom is THE best multi-vitamin for pregnancy. Their Tummy Tuneup probiotic has wiped out numerous stomach bugs quickly in my house. I swear, I don’t work for them; I just love their products and want to support a small family business.
There’s also pureformulas.com and vitacost.com. You want to look for no unnatural added ingredients, especially no GMO, Soy, sugar(or whatever hidden name of sugar) just like you read a food label. I highly recommend Dr. Mercolas articles at mercola.com and Dr. Axe at draxe.com. They show how if we ate good nutritional foods that God made for us we shouldn’t need supplements. I have been trying for 3 months now and feel great, and I lost almost 15lbs!! I use Dr. Axe’s grocery list as my guide. My girls are doing so much better too.
This is great, but how good are the suppliments you take? (https://www.drlam.com/blog/reactive-metabolite-response-adrenal-fatigue/29186/) I hear if we are takeing bad suppliments we could do more harm than good?
Great post! I’m eight months pregnant now and my OB only prescribed Hemarate FA and anmum to me. It makes me worry though whether I’m not taking enough prenatal vitamins or supplements for my baby. When I went to another hospital for a check-up, my consulting doctor told me that my tummy size is too small, considering that I’m already in my third semester. I don’t know whether it’s actually good that my baby is small to avoid C-section because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, so I might be at risk to give birth via C-section.
